Richard Of York Gave Battle In Vain

Vespers for the 550th anniversary of the death of Richard Plantagenet, Duke Of York, followed by a lecture: The Heraldic Funeral: Its Purpose and Meaning by Julian Litten, PhD, FSA. The event was part of an historical re-enactment by the Wakefield Historical Society of the funeral cortège from Pontefract to Fotheringhay, which stopped in Stamford in 1476.

A come-and-sing re-creation of the first performance in England of Brahms German Requiem with the original scoring for piano duet and chorus. Led by Burghley Voices, and conducted by Fergus Black. Sung in German.

A concert performance of the Brahms Ein Deutches Requiem with the St Peter’s Singers, with piano duet. The programme also included works by Eric Whitacre, J S Bach and Charles Ives.
